The instant I was reborn, I shredded two hundred and fifty kilograms of raw meat, summoning my entire pack to craft meatballs together. The scent of blood and flesh filled the air, marking the start of a new chapter—one where I would not be the prey.

In my past life, my stepmother, Olivia James, wove a web of deceit to cover up her affair with an wolf. She bore his pup in secret, but to hide the truth from my father, she orchestrated a tragic scene. She staged a dispute over eggs at the bustling market, ensuring she would be pushed down in the chaos. The fall resulted in the loss of her unborn wolf pup, a sacrifice she was willing to make to shift the blame onto me.

Upon returning home, she drenched herself in tears and lamented pitifully, “If Megan hadn’t insisted on fighting for those discounted eggs, I would never have fallen… My poor, poor child…”

I barely had time to protest before my supposed mate, Beta Finn Collin, condemned me with a single breath. “Megan Foster, you disgust me!

“You’ve always been selfish—sneaking off to hunt without permission, stealing from the pack’s stores—but this time, you’ve crossed the line. Just for a few eggs, you caused Aunt Olivia to lose her child! I refuse to bond with someone as heartless as you. Our engagement is over!”

The words were a death sentence. My father, blinded by rage, struck me again and again, his claws leaving bruises where his fists didn’t land. When his anger cooled, he bound me in chains and sold me to a decrepit Omega deep in the village. There, I was cast into a dark wolf den, left to wither away until my body could no longer endure the torment. I died alone, bleeding into the cold earth.

Only in death did the truth unravel before me—Finn had never been meant for me. His loyalty lay with my stepmother. My supposed bond had been nothing but a tool, a convenient lie to shield their betrayal.

But fate was not finished with me. When I opened my eyes again, I was back on the same day—New Year’s Eve—the day Olivia would fake her miscarriage.

As I clutched my fur-lined cloak, my breath still unsteady from the weight of my memories, my stepmother’s call shattered the silence.

I answered on instinct. Her voice, light and casual, drifted through the receiver. “Megan, New Year’s is almost here. I’m heading out for a hunt, so I won’t be around to cook. Make sure you handle dinner for your father and grandparents.”

She spoke with the certainty of a queen issuing commands, never considering that I might refuse. Before I could object, she continued, “And don’t mention to your father where I am. If he finds out, he’ll be on my tail again, and I need some breathing room.”

Then, with a sickeningly sweet tone, she added, “That’s a good pup. When I get back, I’ll bring you something tasty!”

       The line went dead.

I stared at the phone, my fingers tightening around it. When I called her back, all I met was the dull, repetitive buzz of rejection. Five times. Seven times. Then it hit me—she had blocked me.

The realization sent a cold chill down my spine. My hands trembled, not with fear, but with the icy fire of rage.

I was no longer the same helpless girl. This time, I knew her game.

In my past life, Olivia had rushed into marriage under the illusion that my father was an Alpha. She craved the power of a Luna, the wealth that came with it. But she had miscalculated—my father was only a Beta, and the inheritance she desired belonged to me, not her.

Still, she swallowed her disappointment and played the dutiful wife. Until that fateful New Year’s Eve.

That night, she fed me the same excuse. She needed fresh air, so I stayed behind to handle the pack’s affairs. By the time I returned home, the scent of deceit was thick in the air. The house was unnervingly silent.

In the dimly lit living room, Olivia wept into her hands while my father’s eyes burned with fury. Her sobs dripped with carefully woven lies. “Megan, how could you? If you hadn’t dragged me to that market for those eggs, I wouldn’t have been trampled! My pup… My poor pup…”

Shock paralyzed me. “That’s impossible! I was working all day! I never even set foot in the market!”

Desperation clawed at me as I reached for my phone, ready to pull up my shift records—proof of my innocence. But before I could, Finn stormed forward, ripped the device from my grasp, and shattered it beneath his boot.

His voice, dripping with disappointment, rang out once more. “Megan, you’ve let me down for the last time.”

It was the same condemnation, the same ruthless betrayal.

And my father, manipulated and enraged, turned his wrath upon me once again. He took a slow drag of his cigarette, exhaling smoke like a beast ready to pounce, before snarling, “You vile girl! You’ve doomed this family! You killed my son!”

But this time, I would not let history repeat itself.

This time, I was ready to tear their lies apart, one claw at a time.
